Ryanair drop Humberside route
01.09.06
Budget airline Ryanair is to scrap its first route from Humberside Airport after it failed to attract enough passengers. The 189-seat daily service to Dublin, which began in April, is to be axed at the end of October.
When the Dublin service was launched, airport managers described it as a major boost to the airport and the local economy. They forecast it would generate an additional 100,000 passengers in its first year of operation, but it has been dropped from Ryanair's new winter timetable.
A spokesman for the airport said they were in talks with other airlines about using smaller planes on the route. They are also negotiating with Ryanair about launching flights from Humberside to other European destinations, he added.
