Humberside enjoys record summer

The pilot of a light aircraft had a lucky escape when he crashed on landing at Humberside Airport on Saturday. The light aircraft was only carrying the pilot when it got into difficulties on landing at 16:45 in the afternoon.
Local fire crews and paramedics attended, whilst the airport’s fire crew helped the pilot to safety. He has not been identified, but was not seriously hurt. However, the plane, a Piper Cherokee, was extensively damaged.
The airport remained operational during the incident. Air Accident Investigation officers are to begin an investigation into the cause of the crash.
